These can be direct jobs with the contractor or those across the project supply chain.
Since late 2015, Local Jobs First has supported thousands of local jobs, including for apprentices, trainees and cadets on hundreds of Victorian government projects.
Whether you’re looking for workers or looking for work, Jobs Victoria is a useful resource. It helps support and connect jobseekers and employers, offering Victorian businesses access to a source of quality candidates, and helping jobseekers find meaningful, ongoing employment.
Looking for skilled workers for your project?
There are a number of government initiatives, some of which are supported by incentives, to help match job seekers and businesses:
- The Back to Work Scheme provides employers with incentives for hiring and training eligible employees, such as dairy industry workers and retrenched automotive workers in Victoria. The Scheme also covers jobseekers in the Latrobe Valley and retrenched workers from the Hazelwood Power Station.
- Jobs Victoria helps both employers and job seekers who may be facing barriers to employment. Employment specialists work closely with employers to identify job opportunities and to prepare jobseekers for those roles.
