The Minster for Industry Support and Recovery tabled the Local Jobs First Annual Report 2019-20 in Parliament on 26 November 2020.

The Annual Report details the Local Jobs First policy implementation activities for 2019-20.

Key achievements highlighted in this year’s Annual Report include:

  • Local content requirements were set for 34 Strategic Projects (those valued at or over $50 million) valued at over $22.6 billion with an average requirement of 90 per cent local content. This brings the total of Strategic Projects set by the Victorian Government since November 2014 to 160 with a combined value of $87.6 billion at 30 June 2020.
  • 317 Standard Projects (those valued at or over $1 million in regional areas and $3 million in metropolitan areas or Statewide) commenced, worth a combined value of $2.1 billion. In the same financial year, 233 Standard Projects were completed worth a total value of $1.8 billion.
  • Since its introduction in 2016, the Major Projects Skills Guarantee (MPSG) has been applied to 137 projects collectively worth more than $53 billion (including Standard and Strategic), committing to more than 4.5 million contracted hours for 3,389 apprenticeships, traineeships and cadetships. This includes 42 regional projects that have committed to just under 500,000 hours to 334 apprenticeships, traineeships and cadetships.

We would like to recognise the enormous amount of work that departments and agencies have contributed the implementation and application of Local Jobs First in 2019-20.
