What can I contact the Commissioner about?

You may contact the Commissioner where you believe there is a suspected non-compliance to the Local Jobs First Policy, Local Jobs First Act or Local Industry Development Plans.

If the Commissioner is unable to assist you, the Commissioner will refer you onto an appropriate contact within the Victorian Government who may be able to help.

For queries around submitting a tender for a particular project or developing a Local Industry Development Plan please contact the procuring agency or Industry Capability Network – Victoria directly.

Any complaints about a procurement outcome should be directed to the procuring agency.

Receipt of information and complaints

If your information and contact details have been provided, you will receive a written response from the Commissioner via contact details provided, acknowledging receipt of your information within 24 hours of receiving the information. Next steps will be determined by the nature and seriousness of the complaint.

If more information is required

A preliminary investigation will be conducted to determine the appropriate steps to be taken. Should there be insufficient information to progress the investigation, the Commissioner may make a request for more information or evidence to be able to proceed with an investigation.

Investigating and responding to complaints

The Commissioner will respond to complaints as considered appropriate and will determine whether to proceed with investigating a complaint. The Commissioner will make an informed decision as to the best approach for resolving a complaint.  Not all complaints can or should be resolved through a formal investigation. The complainant will be informed of the results of the complaints within a reasonable timeframe.

Personal information provided by you will not be shared with third parties without your consent unless the use or disclosure is required or authorised by or under law.  Your personal information will be managed in accordance with the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic).

Contact details and email addresses will only be used to respond to specific user queries and will not be kept or used for any purpose other than stated. Email addresses will not be added to a mailing list unless consent is given, nor disclosed to any other party without your consent unless the use of disclosure is required or authorised by or under law.

Information provided on individual forms may be aggregated to identify opportunities for systemic improvements, including improvements to the complaints process. De-identified data may be aggregated to be provided in the Local Jobs First Commissioner’s annual report.
